Holiday Weekend (and more)

Both kids had a successful trip to the dentist recently. Kyle was asking to wear his pirate costume that morning. I saw no reason to take off to go to the dentist.
My friend Amanda and I ran a 5k. Man I need to do that more often. Anyone have some workout motivation for me?

I was speaking to Claire about some issues in my hometown, Rockford, IL. There have been a lot of shootings lately and some issues in my parents' neighborhood. Our little problem solver had a lot to say about it. She wanted to tell people what she thought about it all, so we made a sign that we sent to Nana. I hope they listen.

Lucian and Nana Kathleen took the kids to the zoo recently. I loved getting all the photos while I was at work. They had great weather and a great time.

We went out for ice cream that night. In an unusual display, this little guy devoured his scoop and cone. He wore it well:)
We spent a lot of time in the yard over the holiday weekend. Still lots to go, but we are making progress.
And, we had visitors. We picked up Nana Barb and Papa Joe from the Milwaukee airport after a trip they took. They were nice enough to stay over so Lucian and I could enjoy a night out.
They even got in some extra play time while Lucian and I kept at projects in the yard the next day.

Sisters and Moms

My sister and I went to cheer on the Cubs Brewers on Friday. Well, she cheered on the Cubs while I cheered on the Brewers. In the end she was victorious. But I think we both won because I got a night out with my sis. We had a beer at a bar, tried adventurous stadium food and watched a little baseball. It was a nice treat.

Mimi joined us on Saturday too as we drove to visit our parents and spend Mother's Day with our Mom.

The kids had out all of these stuffed animals within minutes of arrival. They really enjoy playing with our old toys still at the house.
They looked so cute sleeping next to each other.
On Sunday morning we had a breakfast reservation at a favorite restaurant well known for their Swedish pancakes.

They did not disappoint. Just as good as I remembered.
And they have quite a sock monkey display. Rockford is the birth place you know.
We visited into the afternoon. Claire taught Papa all about taking selfies. I absolutely love these photos.
And I remembered to take a photo after we had all changed out of our fancier breakfast attire. Still a beautiful group. Thanks for all you do for us mom. Case in point, I think we left with more gifts than you. Love you! xoxo

Miscellanous

The last couple weeks have been a bit of a blur. Here are some photo highlights that help me remember where the time went.

Kyle is very comfortable using Lucian as an ottoman.
Claire discovered root beer shakes exist. Life changing, I tell you.
And we had fun with hair clips
Lucian traveled for work and my parents came up to help with the kids. Do you think I have a single picture of my parents? No, I don't. I did however take several shots of the kids to keep Lucian up-to-date.

Claire was super excited about a May Day basket she was making for us at school. Nana helped us buy flowers to make a few more and spread May cheer.
And lastly, I took Claire to a classmate's gymnastics birthday party. After warming up she had a great time and I ran into a college friend and her kids I had no idea would be there. It was a lovely surprise.
